The Virginia Holocaust Museum mourns the passing of Rabbi Dennis Beck-Berman, Ha-Rav David Avraham ben Yisrael Ephraim Yitzchak v'Feygel, who died on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Rabbi Beck-Berman was a longtime and deeply valued member of the Virginia Holocaust Museum's Board of Directors and a dedicated leader in Virginia's Jewish community. His commitment to preserving Jewish history, honoring the memory of those lost in the Holocaust, and strengthening Jewish life in our community was evident throughout his many years of service to the Museum. Rabbi Beck-Berman was also a beloved and active presence at Congregation Brith Achim in Petersburg, where he played an important role in the local Jewish community for many years. His leadership, wisdom, warmth, and devotion to his faith and community touched countless lives, both within his congregation and across the broader Richmond-area Jewish community he served alongside organizations such as the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond.

We extend our deepest condolences to his daughters, Cantor Sarah Beck-Berman and Rachel Beck-Berman, LCSW; his brother, Jack Berman; his extended family; and all those who mourn his loss.

The Virginia Holocaust Museum is grateful for Rabbi Beck-Berman's many years of service and friendship. His presence on our Board helped guide the Museum's mission of Holocaust education and remembrance, and his voice will be missed in the rooms where that work continues. We will remember him with deep appreciation and affection, and we will miss him greatly.
