DOCENT-LED EXPERIENCES
General Group Tours and Student Field Trips
Planning a visit for a group? The Virginia Holocaust Museum offers two types of docent-led experiences: General Group Tours for community organizations, civic groups, congregations, and other adult groups, and Student Field Trips designed for middle and high school classes. Each guided tour provides a meaningful, engaging exploration of Holocaust history through powerful artifacts and personal stories. Individual visitors and families are welcome to visit during regular hours without a reservation. If you’re bringing a school group or a larger community group, we recommend scheduling in advance so we can prepare for your visit.
Most visitors spend about an hour exploring the museum. Some guests stay longer to spend more time in specific exhibitions or reflection spaces.
The museum’s content is powerful and can be emotionally challenging. Many families and educators find it most appropriate for older children and teens. We encourage adults to consider the maturity level of younger visitors and to be prepared for conversation and questions after the visit.
We are committed to making the museum as accessible as possible. Accessible parking, entrances, and routes are available, and staff are happy to assist. If you or someone in your group needs specific accommodations, please contact us before your visit so we can help plan a smooth experience.
Free off‑street parking is available just steps from the museum entrance. Signs will direct you to the designated parking area.
Non‑flash photography for personal use is allowed in many areas of the museum, unless otherwise noted on signage. We ask all visitors to be mindful of the subject matter and to take photos in a respectful way.
